Welcome to Little Stars Nursery for the Performing Arts, a bright, new venture from The Jason Thomas Dance Company. Our aim is to offer your child an exciting, fun filled introduction into the world of dance and music.
Little Stars is the inspiration of Jason Thomas. Jason has been teaching all aspects of dance in Cornwall since 2001 and after the success of his dance school Jason created Little Stars Nursery for the Performing Arts, a first for Cornwall. Little Stars caters for all children aged 2 to 5 years, who enjoy dancing and singing and who show an interest in performing.
The Setting
Little Stars Nursery is located in the centre of Truro within easy walking distance from Moorefield Car Park and all city centre shops in the Jason Thomas Performing Arts centre where the Nursery has full use of the facility.
Little Stars Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage concentrating on the 6 main areas of the curriculum.

4. Knowledge and Understanding of the World
5. Physical Development
6. Creative Development
Sarah Thomas runs the Nursery and will ensure the Early Years Foundation Stage is being followed. Little Stars also offers children the opportunity to learn about ballet, jazz and tap with experienced dance teachers Jason Thomas and Terri-Anne Sawyer. They will also have singing sessions with voice coach Vicky St Leger Smith, as well as music appreciation classes with Sally Carpender.
Little Stars will encourage children to be independent and staff will support and guide them in doing this.
Children with special educational needs are welcome to attend Little Stars no matter what their ability or needs. We make sure that; every child has full access to the Early Years Foundation Stage and is encouraged, valued and accepted.
If you have any problems or questions you will need to speak to a member of staff. Please ask to speak to Sarah Thomas (Nursery Manager) who will try to help solve any questions/issues that you may have. Staff will always inform you of any issues that have arisen whilst you child is in the setting so that they can be resolved quickly and efficiently.

Important Information
- A curriculum plan is available for parents to see, however it may be altered as required.
- If someone else is collecting your child you must inform a member of staff.
- Fees are due in advance on 1st of every mouth and are payable by cheque, cash or standing order.
- Please note: 24 hours notice is required for the lunchtime wraparound session - All members of staff
who supervise the lunch time session hold food hygiene certificates.
Uniform
Children will be expected to wear a RAD ballet dress for their ballet lessons, including ballet shoes. They will also be encouraged to wear jazz and tap uniform for jazz and tap sessions, including tap shoes. All dancewear is available to purchase through the nursery, along with Jason Thomas tracksuits, t-shirts and bags.

Principal Ballet School
Boys and girls from 3 years old can enroll in the Ballet School,starting in nursery classes with imagery and the use of silk scarves, wands and flags. Students enter Royal Academy of Dance exams from Pre Primary through to Grade 8 and Advanced 2 Level, giving them the skills, as vocational students, to learn the techniques of Pointe work and male Virtuosity.
Jazz and Tap Dance
Jazz students also start at 3 years old with the use of rhythm, co-ordination and spatial awareness before progressing to jazz technique using isolation and stretching, and learning challenging dance routines. Tap dance classes involve the students in learning exercise at the Barre and in the Centre. Using various rhythms and learning dance terminology, students work towards examinations with the International Dance Teachers Association.
